Two New Yorkers, One City: A Spring Engagement Session from West Village to DUMBO
There’s something about this city that never lets go. Even when you move away, it lingers in your the air, in your coffee order, in the way you cross the street like you own it. That’s exactly the kind of love story I documented with Caro & Kyle. Two New Yorkers at heart, who may have moved out of the city, but never stopped calling it home. We started their NYC engagement session in the heart of the West Village, stopping at Bandits, a retro-style bar where neon signs glowed and cocktails flowed. It was the perfect cozy, nostalgic start. Warm laughter, sidewalk conversations, and all the energy that makes the Village so magnetic. From there, we wandered through quiet corners of the neighborhood, soaking in the golden light that filtered through brownstone-lined streets. These moments, the pauses between places, are where the real magic lives. No posing or directing, just connection.
Next, we ventured to a Chelsea rooftop, where the skyline wrapped around us. It was breezy and romantic, the kind of spot that makes you feel like you’re seeing the city for the first time all over again. The view, the intimacy, the stillness above the noise. It was a quiet chapter in the middle of their day, and one I won’t forget.
And finally, we ended where so many New York love stories do, in DUMBO, with the Manhattan + Brooklyn Bridge behind us and the last light of day dancing on the water. A favorite for a reason, this Brooklyn landmark brought the session full circle. With the city stretched out behind them, C + K held each other like they always had, like the city still belonged to them!!!
This shoot wasn’t just about engagement photos in NYC. It was about coming home, to each other, and to a city that will always be part of their story.
